Fairway Tyres started trading in 1980 formed and funded by Mr Colin Dickman and run by his eldest son Andrew Dickman.

Colin started his career testing tyres for Pirelli, racing around tracks, spinning and braking in different conditions assessing how effective the tyres were and how they could be improved. Soon Colin went on to the Pirelli sales team and progressively worked up the corporate ladder until becoming UK sales manager. Having gone so far with Pirelli it was time to move on to bigger and better things and Colin moved to Toyo Tyre UK as general manager and helped Toyo to gain a good commercial and earthmover tyre market share in the UK, but it was at this time with a shortage of good, honest, professional tyre depots and Toyo Tyres in need of a reliable source in the UK to import car tyres that was in 1980 and Fairway was born...

Fairway started importing Toyo Tyres direct from Japan and wholesaled all over the country. This carried on and Fairway started to make steady but solid progress until it came to the time that a suitable site was found in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire and a retail outlet was opened.

A few years passed and Glenn and Chris then joined the company and a need for another outlet was required and this was found in north Watford, this was an existing tyre outlet that was run down and in need of development, a purpose built depot was created and although it was a small depot we were able to offer a good level of service from there. It was 1989 when we bought our biggest site yet in Hatfield, with the help of Frank Bruno to open the depot and establish ourselves, we progressed into car servicing \ repairs \ M.O.T's and much more - the one stop motorist centre.

With the purchase of a much larger site in Rickmansworth we developed our flagship depot in Uxbridge road and still operate from there today. In 2003 Colin and Ann retired from the family business and the three sons now run each depot independently although remain under the same co-corporate umbrella.
